Wheatland Music Festival (2014)

September 6-7, 2014:

Audiences at the Wheatland Music Festival received an extra treat when Tom Hiddleston joined Rodney Crowell on stage for multiple performances. They had recently started working together in preparation for the Hank Williams biopic, I Saw the Light. Rodney served as vocal coach and executive producer of music for the film. This was the first time Tom had ever performed as Hank in front of a crowd.

Day One: Saturday

Tom Hiddleston and Rodney Crowell performed the Hank Williams' hits Move It On Over and Jambalaya. Tom also did background vocals and guitar while Rodney performed several of his own songs, including Tobacco Road.  (You can watch a full collection of videos from Tom's performances here.)

Tom also took time to thank the crowd: This is the very first time I've ever played Hank live in front of an audience. You have been so good, and so kind, and I will never forget it as long as I live.

Day Two: Sunday

Tom Hiddleston joined Rodney on stage again to perform the Hank Williams classic, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. Unfortunately I have never found audio/video of this performance but you can tell from the photos that TOMMY WAS SANGING. (You can listen to the version Tom performed in the film here.)

Singer Sarah Jarosz joined Rodney and Tom for both days: Had a fantastic time performing at the Wheatland Music Festival this weekend! I did a workshop with the great Rodney Crowell on Saturday and Tom Hiddleston joined us for a tune!

About the festival:

Wheatland Music Organization, Inc. is a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization based near Remus, Michigan. Founded in 1974 as a means to make money for The Mount Pleasant Food Co-op, the charitable and educational organization has grown from offering a single event, to offering activities year-round.
The mission of the Wheatland Music Organization is to serve as a resource center for the preservation and presentation of traditional music and arts. Traditional arts are considered those learned person to person, passed from generation to the next, and influenced by culture, family, ethnicity, and era.
Each year, over 200 traditional artists from across the nation are contracted to present at the annual Music Festival and Traditional Arts Weekend. They also participate in many community education outreach programs which are offered at schools, senior centers and on the WMO Grounds.
Volunteers contribute approximately 10,000 hours planning, carrying out programs and maintaining the 160 acre centennial farm. Each year approximately 30,000 people are consumers of programs, workshops, lessons, presentations, and more. Programming includes music, dance and arts lessons, children and family programs, music jamborees, traditional square and contra dances, scholarships, underwriting of concerts, touring arts series, the annual Traditional Arts Weekend and the annual Music Festival.

Fashion:

Day One: Tom wore his Emporio Armani leather jacket, Cord trousers, and Ray-Ban New Wayfarer sunglasses ($143). Day Two: Tom wore his red plaid shirt (most likely from Zara), Charcoal grey trousers (possibly a part of his High-Rise Chris Kerr suit), and Vans Slip-On shoes ($50). Tom was also wearing a Nike+ sportswatch ($189.99), carrying an iSkin Shelby Backpack ($195) and playing a Gibson guitar gifted to him by Rodney Crowell.
