Over the past twelve months I've had the opportunity to test a lot of products; some were good, some were average and some were truly remarkable. I've compiled a list of make up, hair care, skin care and miscellaneous beauty favourites of 2013, the stand out products that have really surpassed everything else in my collection. Today I'm here to share the third instalment with you, the hair bits! To read about what make up I loved in 2013, click here. To read about what skincare I loved in 2013, click here. There were two stand out fragrances for me this year and I'm sure neither will surprise you. I bought a 100mL bottle of Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture early last year and it's one of the only fragrances I've completely finished. Impressive, no? I'm onto my second 100mL bottle and I still love it! My other favourite is a little more grown up and is Honey by Marc Jacobs. I wasn't expecting to like this as I'm not often fond of Marc Jacobs scents but this one is amazing. I think it's one that will appeal to so many people, young and, well, not so young. The only downside is the price. For a full review, click here.
I didn't do too many new and exciting things to my nails this year other than add a million new nail polishes to my collection. Out of the excessive amount that I acquired over the year Ballet Slippers by Essie and Bold Sangria and Buttercup from the Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish line were my favourites. They're all really lovely colours. (NOTE: I may have cheated slightly as I only got Ballet Slippers in December). The Nails Inc. Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Top Coat came in Sephora Favourites Glitz & Glam kit (haul here) and I think it's an amazing top coat. When my Mum was in France she picked up the Sephora Collection Limes à Ongles which is basically a nail file, but it's not ordinary nail file. This is the only nail file that I've consistently used and I think it's absolutely amazing. I'm so glad the pack came with two 'cos I don't know what I'm going to do when they die.
Finally, it's time for brushes. I fell out of love with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush this year (just not dense enough!) and rediscovered flat top synthetic brushes. The Abbamart Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush is a perfect dupe for the Sigma Flat Top F80 but a lot cheaper. You can find it here. For my eyes there a three brushes that I swear by, the Furless Perfectly Pink Blending Brush, and MAC 217 and 239. All brushes are absolutely beautiful and, when used in conjunction with each other, make the perfect eye look.
Finally, I couldn't finish a series on favourites without mentioning the Sephora Ribbon Hair Ties. I really love these. They're not as harsh on the hair and there's no tugging, meaning there's less knotting and breakage. They also don't leave kinks in my hair. I know other brands/stores do these hair ties, yes, but I've never used them, purely because I ordered heaps from Sephora.
