I think the cartoon is good attempt. My suggestion would be revise it little so that our message is more clear.
1. Have two pipelines coming out. One with an outlet in US, and the other with outlets in other parts of the world.
2. Have someone, representing US congress, inadvertently put their feet on the pipeline that has it's outlet in US. Make this pipeline appear clogged because of the weight of the feet.

Yours will be a fresh H1. It will only become valid starting October 1st. People generally advise you not to travel when a change in status has been applied. But I don't think it will be a problem if you travel.

There are a few famous one's who won't even tell what their fee is until you set up a paid consultation with them. Charge $ 395.00 for a 30 minute consultation even if your case is 'Kosher'. You need to take an appointment through their paralegal to talk to them, can't get an appointment for the same day, would be lucky if you can talk to them next day.
Really do not know if their steep price tag is worth it...!

If you want to use probability theory your chances are 50-50 . You might get approved or might not . There is absolutely no one here ( or at USCIS ) who can definitely say that your GC will be approved in August.
No one knows how many applications are pending before you and even USCIS does not follow the FIFO procedure and also how many visa numbers are left and how many will be alotted to EB2-India.
So you see just too many variables to say anything . Go ahead and renew your EAD if you are working on EAD to be on the safe side.

The amount in terms of $ may not be accurate to measure. 3 Years back it used to be like if you have 80K-85K(40L INR) you can lead a high standard life in India and live happily ever after. But now you cannot even buy a good apartment. The real estate price not only in big cities but even in small cities are soaring like anything. Adding the dollar-Rupee decline, even if you have more than 100K as savings it is like u will have to get loan for most of the things.
loans are not bad things...in fact u get a housing deduction on income tax in india too (thats what i heard recently).
i have heard a lot of ppl say that I wont/dont invest in 401k until i get my gc. I feel that the most ridiculous financial plan that one can have.
here at IV we (meaning members) did a series of spotlight topics like buying a home, investing in 401k, etc. i ll look back and see if i get the links to them.

actually per an earlier thread (& a note in one of Murthy's chatlogs) multiple I-485s are legally allowed. Not recommended as it might cause confusion later and USCIS will make you pick one petition at some point, but there is no law that prevents multiple AOS filings. If there is, please provide a reference to it.
Also, if he chooses option #3 what is the risk that he cannot add his wife on time? Does PD need to be current to be able to add his spouse?

Technically, when I applied for my last H1 extension, dates were retrogressed for me and I was not eligible then to apply for 485 (Note: I had an approved 140 in hand by then). But, in less than a month dates did become available and I was able to file for 485. All of this was during the June/July fun last year.
Now, my expectaction was that since I applied for H1 extension when dates were retrogressed, I would be granted 3 years. But, when my H1 extension approval finally arrived in October (dates were not retrogressed at that time), to my great disappointment I got only 1 year :( So, when USCIS is determining whether dates are retrogressed for us, are they looking at H1 Receipt date or approval to determine the 1 vs 3 years for the extension? Many people have stated in forums that USCIS "should" and "is" using receipt date. But, in my case it was not true. So, it does not matter what the law states OR RATHER what WE interpret the law as stating. What matters is only how USCIS interprets the law and the action they take based on that.
So, this year I have to go through the H1 extension all over again. Once again, dates are currently retrogressed. So, will I get 3 years this time or will they give me only 1 year because my 485 is pending? I have seen and heard only the following.
1. The client treats Vendor 1 like a piece of crap on their face. If Vendor 1 has bribed the hiring manager, the hiring manager does not mistreat Vendor 1.
2. Vendor 1 treats Vendor 2 like a piece of crap on their face.
3. Everyone treats a consultant like a piece of crap on thier face.
4. The only one who respects Vendor 1 is Vendor 1.

I was given the following description by an Indian Consultancy Company (ICC).
An ICC is like a pimp. A consultant is like a prostitute. The job of a consultant is to please the client under all conditions.
Right now, I have to accept it because I am on H1B. However, I wonder what will change after GC?

In case of smaller american companies it is some hiring/project manager etc.
In case of big companies it is some top official who was influencial in winning the contract bid.

FYI - If you efile your federal will be rejected because the AGI will not match for your spouse who is using SSN instead of ITIN.
You may have to use zero as AGI for your spouse and then file form 8453-OL with signatures..
